Birds have served as messengers between the human and divine worlds in virtually every spiritual tradition on earth. In Celtic lore they carry souls between realms; in ancient Egypt the Ba — the soul itself — was depicted with a human head and a bird's body. In the language of the tea leaves, the Bird speaks of messages, movement, and the part of your nature that cannot be confined to the earthly and the ordinary.
When the Bird appears in your reading, pay close attention to the communications arriving in your life — both the external kind and the internal ones. A conversation, a letter, a dream, an intuition: something is being transmitted to you. The Bird can also signal a yearning for freedom, for a perspective larger than the one available at ground level. It invites you to rise above the immediate and look at your situation from the spacious vantage point of altitude. What becomes clear when you stop circling the problem and allow yourself to simply fly?
